Here’s a confession: What I wanted to do with this resource was open the blog post like this…
👉 Skip the confession and get straight to the list.
“Here is a list of all the Microsoft Direct Routing partners. We’ve included detail like locations supported and any optional extras. We aim to make this Direct Routing partner list as up to date as possible and with as much useful detail as we can find for you.”
I was then going to caveat it with things like…
“It’s important to note at this stage that Microsoft doesn’t run an accreditation or approval status for Direct Routing partners. In fact, this makes it pretty hard to find an actual list of partners.”
However, I soon found out that this task was going to near impossible. Extracting details from every Direct Routing partner proved tricky at the first vendor I reached out to.
When I asked one of the most respected Microsoft Teams influencers there is, Tom Arbuthnot of Empowering.Cloud, what he tells people when they ask him for a list, he said…
“When looking for a telephony provider for Teams I would start with the Operator Connect provider list. These operators, over 90 operators covering over 90 countries, have committed to and certified with Microsoft. If your countries are not covered by your preferred provider in Operator Connect, many of them also offer Direct Routing with dedicated SBC and/or Direct Routing as a service.”
So I did this. I went on the Operator Connect partner page and selected 8×8. I knew it had a Direct Routing offering because I’ve worked with 8×8 in the past, have a lot of mutual connections on LinkedIn, and they’ve done a good job of getting it in front of me.
Fun fact: Not all Operator Connect partners offer Direct Routing. So I couldn’t shortcut this process either.
I typed 8×8 Direct Routing into Google and ended up on the right page. What happened next, however, halted me in my tracks and is the reason I’ve retired the idea of creating a full list of Direct Routing partners.

In my quest to gather as much detail to make buyers’ lives easier, I wanted to include the following criteria as minimum:
- Countries supported
- Number of users supported
- How to reach out to the vendor
- Specific technical complexities
- Minimum contract requirements
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any of these. A massive fail for me. But also a massive fail for every customer replicating this process.
Needless to say, this disheartened me from probing much further. It could have become a terrible waste of time and wouldn’t be something I’d feel comfortable billing a customer for. After all, this was intended to be a marketing asset for Callroute.
So, here’s what I can provide you with today.
While Microsoft may not publish a Direct Routing partner list, it does publish a list of supported session border controller (SBC) devices. After this list of supported devices is a list of Direct Routing partners. However, getting the specific is down to you, the customer.
You’ll see that I got some detail from websites. But when I dug further, some vendors didn’t want to give this out to me without booking a call, without confirming what company I was representing, and some just didn’t reply at all.
What can I say, folks? I tried!
It is still a good list to use. If one of your existing vendors is one this list, using them for Direct Routing is a good option. You remove the risk of migration and they likely know your setup.

Microsoft Direct Routing Partner List
If the Direct Routing partners have ??? in the “countries supported” column, they either never got back to me or provided an answer that didn’t fill me with confidence.
This shouldn’t be a reflection on their ability to execute, but it is a reflection on their helpfulness.
Or, in the defense of some vendors, I have only recently asked them but wanted to get this live ASAP.
I will update this table as and when I receive more details.
